Hey there,

I ran into a problem today. After driving to Los Angeles I opened the hood and there was fresh oil all over the right side of the engine bay. It appears as though there is a hose that runs from the top of the oil filler tube to a bottle that is tied to the firewall. The bottle has holes around the upper portion and it appears as though the oil is coming form that location. Can anyone tell me what the purpose of this bottle is for and should it be full of oil?

Thanks in advance for your help with this matter...

Sorry to hear. :( I think it is an overflow tank. Replace it with another bigger size tonight. :D Hope you can make it tomorrow. I want to see the flames shooting out your exhaust pipes this time. 8)

Are you talking about the oil reservoir?

Big, thin yet tall container?

Hey Eli,

I believe that's what it is. But it looks like a plastic water bottle almost homemade looking. I don't think it's the original.

Somehow I think I put to much oil in the damn thing. Yesterday, I was checking the oil and my dumb behind checked it in my driveway which is on an incline. Sorry to say, not a good idea...so I added a quart and checked again...still wasn't registering on the dip stick. So I added another quart...this time it was on the mark...unfortunately the car didn't like all that oil, so it started blowing it back into this water bottle thingy...

Oh well...I took it to the car wash and cleaned all of the oil off and went by Floyd's house and emptied the oil out of the reservior...hope I didn't do anything else stupid.

Anywho, I will see you all in the morning, same bat channel and same bat station...

Ciao,

TK

I think you suppose to keep the engine running on that car when checking the oil, I had buddy who had the same problem, he just keeps pouring oil until smoke start coming out.

I think you're missing more than you have there... You may be out a couple of return lines.... I'll have to take a closer look at this thing. Do you have a photo you can send?

Hey Eli,

I'm assuming you need a closeup of the engine compartment. I'll see if I can take a good shot today when I get home...

Thanks man...
