|
|
Hello,
I just became a new first time Porsche owner. My 2002 Boxster came with the same PCM you have posted in the photos discussing the installation of the unit. My Nav and CD is not operational but the AM/FM radio is. I obtained the NAV Code code for the Local Porsche dealership and I now need to purchase the CD. Can you tell me the model of this PCM unit? You mention 2 codes to make the PCM operational. Where is the Device Code located?
Also, my CD player is not recognizing a CD when I load it into the unit. I have a CD button on the upper left side of the screen. Can you tell me what steps I need to take to make the CD player operational?
Thanks for your help.

Do you get an error message when you put the CD in or does it just not do anything at all? Have to tried to put in different CDs and non-burned CDs? It may be that the CD player is broken and I am trying to rule that out.

I get the message for the NAV to "insert CD" I have not purchased until I know which one will work with this NAV System.
When I try to play a music CD I purchased, the Screen states no CD Player. When I purchased the car, a burned CD was in the CD slot but not playing.
The Dealer had placed a new battery in the car and all codes needed to be reentered. I need to purchase the correct CD for the NAV before I can test the full workings of the NAV but does the CD player need codes too.
I am looking to identify the PCM NAV model so I can locate a manual which might help me resolve some of these issues. Do you know the model of the NAV in the picture?
Thanks for the help |

NAV might be a CD-ROM drive which requires a data CD.
See pages 373-375 & 382 on this PDF http://www.pcars.com/porsche_parts/model_catalogs/USA_CDN/986_USA_KATALOG.PDF for part numbers.
Hope this help. |

As far as what I have seen when it comes to CD players, they might also need a code. But if the code has been wiped clean then it wont say "no cd" it should say "code". I may be wrong about this though. As for the CD for the NAV, I don't think it will matter. If you get a newer revision then it will have the most up to date maps. If you get an older revision then the maps will not be as up to date. I really don't think that Porsche changed any functional parts of the software.

Steve, I don't think that she got the system through the dealer.
