Hi guys. Like a lot of you, I have other vehicles. The Porsche sits in the garage. I wanted to ride my bike last weekend but it wouldn't start. I charged the battery and installed a battery tender. What do you guys think about battery tenders on the cars? Anything I need to be aware of BEFORE disconecting the leads to install a tender?

I haven't driven my Porsche lately, and it had sat for about a month. When I went to start it last weekend, the battery was almost dead  . I had to call AAA. Someone suggested a battery tender.

Did you do any research?? Did you pruchase one and if so which did you buy and why?? Thanks for bring up the subject and I am looking forward to a response.

If interested in this, I would talk to Rich. I think there might be a family discount of this item.

Don't have to disconnect the lead on the battery. It charges through the cigarette lighter. However, I have not use them yet.

Rich, if I read correctly then the second, cheaper, version of the charger should be better suited for late model Porsches where as the other one is better suited for current model Porsches. Now if there is any validity to this, I do not know.

Hi Larry. My need came about because my motor cycle sometimes sits for long periods. I bought a tender for my Harley $40.00. It came with battery clips. Battery harness $8.60. I bought another post harness to attach to the Porsche battery for $8.60. The tender will charge ANY battery. ONE BATTERY AT A TIME.

I have the cheaper one for my P Car....and its awesome.

since I too do not drive it all the time my car sits for a couple weeks at a time. All I do is slap the tender in the night before I plan on taking it out and it fine.

Definitely suggest getting one....and the main reason I have the Porsche one is because of the ease of having it in the cig lighter. I do not want to pop the hood etc...
