Wow, after a few weeks of searching, telephone calls, driving from L.A county, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, San Diego County I came back to Orange County to buy this 2002 Montero Sport LXS for $2,500. Why it's so cheap you asked, the ex-owner got rear ended a few weeks ago with this vehicle. It was his wife's daily beater. They are divorcing so he didn't care how much he sold the car for.

The vehicle was inspected by my friend's bodyshop. He advised to buy it quick before the owner or other buyers outbid me. Minor damage after accessing, rear bumper, reinforce plate, nuts, screws and minor pull of the rear door with new door latch are all it needed. Cost for repair and paint $1,100.

What's with all the rear ended SUV vehicles lately? Don't you already have one? :?

Congratulations Pete, that is a very good price. As long as there is nothing major that is wrong with it and nothing pops up during tear down.

For a while I used to see a lot of Monertos on the road. I think it was when Mitsubishi was having their zero down and zero interest for 2 years deal or something like that.

Thanks Todd! He was really nice to hold his words and not selling the car to the higher bidder. Took the SUV home and went to the DMV. My local DMV is a messed. The line was so long and their TV monitor for use to call out numbers was dead so they called the numbers by over head speakers that was hard to listen and understand the number.

Anyway, after hours of waiting the total fee was $347+$30 (smog test)= $377.

Congrats Pete. Have you considered AAA? They offer some DMV services which includes registration and renewals. If you hate those DMV long lines and wait (like I do), I'll pay AAA membership (I think it's around 70 bucks for both you and your wife). Membership includes emergency road assistance among others. Not bad for like $6/mo.

I don't even go to the DMV in my city anymore. I go to Pasadena since it has shorter lines and things move faster.

Joe,

I rarely go to DMV if not counting my last trip to DMV I have not go to the Zoo for more than 10 years. So it was OK to wait. Beside I have a local guy here in my neighborhood that will do all DMV paperworks for $25 service charge. He was out of town for vacation so I went there. I pay $16 annually for my towing with my insurance and $22 annually for 30 days rental car.

Thanks for the head up!

That case, we call it "Mitsu GTG". And there are only three of us that will show up. You, Steve and myself.
