A- Navigation unit frame , B- Navigation unit, C- PCM unit, E-AC control unit trim G- Tel. Mic. F- PCM code card, Q- Navigation unit code card, Z- Central vent, H-PCM unit frame, L-PCM and Navigation Wiring.
First DISCONNECT THE BATETERY AND COVER THE TERMINAL OR BATTERY!
Remove Instrument cluster, the central vent, the radio, the AC control, [ the center console cover, front left and right, rear right (unclip cover from behind ant take out)], [front trim. and the two front sheaths (simply you pull ant take out)].
.
Directives to remove Instrument cluster you will find here http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/mods/obc/#3
(3. Remove Instrument Cluster….)
Unclip switch covers from below and disconnect electrical plug connections.
(Photo 2)
Detach and remove the central vent (4 Torx screws 5.0 x 22) at the center vent. Carefully pull out the central vent.
(Photo 3)
Remove the frame (A) and remove the (B) of it.
(photo 4)
Install the frame (A) without the (B)

Installing GPS antenna
The GPS antenna is located under a cover in the dashboard. A light-emitting diode for the alarm system and the sun sensor are accommodated in this housing.
The GPS is fastened underneath with a magnet.

Unclip cover from behind ant take out.
(photo7)
Undo both Torx T20 fastening screws (A) with an angled screwdriver, remove housing, disconnect electrical plug connection on the bottom.
(Photo8)
Caution: Fastening screws could fall out. Use electric tape and make this
(Photo 9)
(Photo 10)
Lead the antenna cable, engage electrical plug connection install housing with GPS antenna and clip in cover.
NOTE The GPS antenna must not de covered by metallic or moist objects.
Wiring the PCM.
You are in this point and you begin to be connected the cables

Pass the AC control connectors in the down one.
Connector 4 (photo 1) with the cable antenna in the above (first you have to placed there frame A (photo 1)
(Photo 17)
Place connector 4 (photo 1) and GPS antenna cable in the B (photo 1) and place in precisely as the radio.

Connect connector’s behind the AC control and place in down shelf, (similar with the original place)
Now you place the frame Η (photo 1) in Z (photo 1) and put the central vent in the place precisely as you removed the old one
connect the switches and put the covers in their place.
Place connector’s Telephone and radio antenna cable behind the PCM and press in place precisely as the radio.

Connect the battery
The placement is completed!

Device code input.
The display and operator control unit is protected against theft dy a device code. Furthermore, a code also protects the navigation unit against unauthorized users. Both codes must de input when the system is commissioned. Input the device code for the display and operator control unit first. Only the navigation code has to be input again if the navigation unit is exchanged .
Adjusting (calibrating) PCM navigation unit
The PCM navigation unit must be calibrated after maintenance work or commissioning. Calibrating is the prerequisite for exact route guidance.
The following components of the PCM navigation unit must be calibrated or initialised:
GPS receiver:
After an interruption in the power supply. The installed GPS receiver loses its s-called “almanac”.
The almanac stores the satellite orbits and ensures fast location of the individual satellites when the system is started.
Distance sensor:
The distance sensor transmits the distance travelled to the PCM nav. Unit . The distance signal changes if the circumference of the tyre changes ( e.g. tyre changes). This modification must be calibrated dy the PCM nav unit afterwards .
Gyroscope:
The gyroscope detects changes in the direction of travel and must be calibrated after commissioning . The gyroscope shows temperature-dependency.
This is compensated dy the system if the “cold” ( not calibrated) system is switched on and left to stand for approx one hour.
Procedure after commissioning:
Observe the sequence !
Switch on the PCM with a free panoramic view for approx. 20 minutes (to load GPS almanac).
Drive on a motorway if possible at speed greater than 60 km/h for a distance of approx. 50 km. ( calibration of the distance measurement).
Drive approx. 10 km in an urban area and take freguent turn-offs. Stop for approx. 10 seconds occasionally. ( calibration of the gyroscope )
Switch on the PCM nav unit for approx. one hour with the vehicle horizontal. (temperature compensation of the gyroscope)
I just became a new first time Porsche owner. My 2002 Boxster came with the same PCM you have posted in the photos discussing the installation of the unit. My Nav and CD is not operational but the AM/FM radio is. I obtained the NAV Code code for the Local Porsche dealership and I now need to purchase the CD. Can you tell me the model of this PCM unit? You mention 2 codes to make the PCM operational. Where is the Device Code located?
Also, my CD player is not recognizing a CD when I load it into the unit. I have a CD button on the upper left side of the screen. Can you tell me what steps I need to take to make the CD player operational?
