New Audi R8 spotted!!

Not sure if anyone has seen these photos before, but they are new to me. Found some pics of the new Gallardo-inspired R8 by Audi, and I have to say it looks pretty ugly so far, though it definately has the Gallardo wheels! Two kids took the pictures in Santa Monica, and it seems kind of funny because apparently two Germans in polo shirts were yelling "Nein! Keine fotos! KEINE FOTOS! Raus, dummkopf Ami mit Kamera! Raus!" But I guess the kids did not give a crap!

Yes, YUK. I don't like the two tone. Somehow it looks better in a Veyron.

I think if they made a metallic black ONE tone paint for the car, and fixed the god-awful tailight(s), it would make a huge difference. I am sure it will look great in person once it is finally in production, have to remember it is still being tweaked. But those pictures make it look horrible definately!

Agree with above views. Two-tone and rear stripe may not be in the final production version. Here are more pics from recent appearance.

The one side-shot actually makes it look more like a Veyron than a Gallardo I think. It has to get better looking, these are probably spy shots anyways.

Finally got the new C/D in the mail yesterday, and the R8 was in it. And I must say, it looks 10x better than these spy pics! In case no one picked up this new issue, I will write the little caption that they wrote under the picture;

Audi will take on established sports-car king porsche with the R8, which goes on sale next spring. This mid-engined two-seater will come in two flavors: a 4.2-liter V8 with about 420 horsepower and a 5.2-liter V10 making north of 500 horsepower. Like the Lamborghini Gallardo from which the V-10 originates, the car will be all wheel drive. Nearly four inches longer than the Gallardo, Audi claims the R8 will be the most usable supercar ever. Expect pricing to mirror the 911's: About $80,000 for the V-8 and $120,000 (911 Turbo money) for the V-10.

The new pic is great, it has a green metallic paint, and in between the back fenders and door handle, from the top of the car to the bottom it has a silver metallic strip. That seems like a great price for the car, and I think Porsche is going to have tough competition next year! I would definately take one of these over the 911 is it looks as good as this pic suggests!

I actually found these good pics online, looks like the same styling as the magazine, just silver and not green;

Its no Gallardo....

But i like it. Theres even talk of audi implementing a diesal V12 into the car and I for one, think it is highly likely due to audis use of deisel in the R10 race car. Can you imagina all that torque?!?
