Finally Rebuilding My Top and Bottom end... From 3.2 to 3.4

Well guys... it's been a while since I've been on the site, but I am finally rebuilding by top and bottom end in my car. Aase Motors is doing my rebuild, and I am taking my motor from 3.2 to 3.4, and putting a bigger cam in it. The motor is completely apart at the moment, and I will be posting pictures as we progress through the rebuild.

There are no 3.4 Mahle pistons or cylinders anywhere in the country. So, we had to order them from Germany. They should be here in two weeks. I will keep you guys posted.

That sounds like a great project, what is the compression of the 3.4 pistons? If it's Euro Spec its going to be 9:8 vs the stock 9:5?

Any reason you didn't go to 3.5?

Yep the Pistons and Cylinder set are 98mm 9.8:1

Can't find the 3.5 pistons and cylinders anywhere and I didn't want to change my casing which would make my numbers not match just for another 100cc's. I am keeping everything so I can put the car back to original if necessary in terms of the numbers matching.

I'm downloading pictures now to post. My car is the M491 Turbo Look.

I specifically decided to do the bottom end because that number 8 bearing would eventually leak when cold. The seals now are much better than they were in 1987.

Hey Joseph... I just noticed we basically have the same car. I have the 993 top on mine.. It made the lines a little smoother on the car. You're car looks good. Hopefully Eli or Rich will put a run together when I get my car back.

I just emailed Richard to put some models together so I can get some new pictures of my car when it's finished.

Hey thanks.... I'm just trying to think what am I going to do with it next. I do need an alignment, and I am also going to get 930 tire rods put on it when I finish with the rebuild.

Thanks again... it has been a long time.

Looking forward to the next run..

Well here we go. Finally received my Pistons and Cylinders from Germany. Now it's time to machine and clean and assemble.

The Beast is waiting

All those parts look really good. The Turbo Tie Rods are a great upgrade, it improves the steering by 60%.
